Paul McGrillen Aka Makk died after a tragic accident in May 2007 whilst travelling to work in Gloucester. He leaves behind a doting Wife of sixteen years and their three young Sons. Paul was an intelligent, witty and generous man. He enjoyed books, music, and real ale. But his biggest passion was computing. Paul studied and taught himself many different programming languages over two decades and held several IT positions over the years finally becoming a Senior Software Developer for a web hosting company. He was a loving father to his sons and would have done anything for them. Paul saved his eldest son's life when he stopped breathing at three weeks old. He has gone on to save other lives through organ donation.

Another year

It's so hard having to start another year without you here. I miss you so much. You made my life complete. I feel so sad that you are missing out on seeing our wonderful boys growing into young men. All my love forever, Deborah xxxxxxxxxx

He is Gone

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your
back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.

Poem for my Dad

Today is a very sad day
These upsetting thoughts will never go away
Your departure has caused large strife
Since you so unbelievably lost your life

Today you still remain in our thoughts
Today we bear flowers that we bought
At first the sad memories provoked fear
But that all end up in tears

Today you are still here in a book-shaped pot
And it is you who we miss alot
One thing that will always stay true
Is my permanent undying love for you

Gone but never forgotten

Sad are the hearts that love you
silent the tears that fall
living their lives without you
is the hardest part of all

Missing You

Makk, the cornerstone of humour at our workplace; not a week goes by without a homage to the way it was before, nor a longing for your return.

I will always remember you with a smile on my face.

Thank you Makk - you brought joy to my life.

Lyrics to Videotape - Radiohead

When I'm at the pearly gates
This'll be on my videotape
My videotape

When Mephistopheles is just beneath
And he's reaching up to grab me

This is one for the good days
And I have it all here
In red blue green
In red blue green

You are my centre when I spin away
Out of control on videotape
On videotape
On videotape
On videotape
On videotape

This is my way of saying goodbye
Because I can't do it face to face
So I'm talking to you
No matter what happens now
I shouldn't be afraid
Because I know today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen

Nine months since you departed this world

Do you make them laugh in Heaven,
does your smile bring them good cheer?
Do you make the sun shine brighter,
like you did when you were here?

The very mention of your name,
the memories of your smile,
The little things you said and did,
are with us all the while.

You meant so very much to us,
there’s nothing left to say,
Except that without you here
there is no perfect day.

For no-one knows the heartache,
that lies behind our smiles,
no-one knows how many times
i have broken down & cried.

I want to tell you something
so there wont be any doubt,
you're so wonderful to think of,
but so hard to be without...

We hold you close within our hearts,
and there you shall remain.
To walk with us throughout our lives,
until we meet again.
